31, 356 candidates have already been approved for municipalities in Azerbaijan, the press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan told Trend News.
Municipal elections in Azerbaijan will be held on December 23. During these elections, 15 682 members will be elected for 1,718 municipalities. Formerly elections were held twice - in 1999 and 2004.
The CEC said that registration of the candidates for the municipal elections continues. So far, about 31,356 candidates have already been registered in municipalities. Of this number, 6,182 are women. 15,729 approved candidates for municipal elections have higher education.
Of the candidates, 11,113 people are independent, others represent 30 political parties. The constituencies have registered candidates from 18 parties. The registration ends on Nov.23 at 18:00.
