Namely passengers suffered in forty percent of road traffic accidents (RTA) on Azerbaijani roads every year. Every second road accident in Baku is automobile-pedestrian accident.

Azerbaijan reported 754 automobile-pedestrian accidents for nine months, which killed 227 and injured 580, the Interior Ministry of the Central State Traffic Police Department Director Arastun Medjidov

In this period 35 percent of the killed and 28 percent the injured were pedestrians.

102 accidents occurred through pedestrians' fault, killing 19 people and injuring 83. These figures made up 14 percent of the total number of accidents related to pedestrians.

The pedestrian accidents killed 36 children and  injured 120 over the past nine months.  

Central State Road Police Department holds Safety Movement Week called "Attention, pedestrian" is aimed at RTA prevention in Baku on Nov. 16-22, Medzhidov said

Situation analysis showed that road accidents involving pedestrians occur mainly in late October-November, said Medzhidov. According to him, this is due to the darkness, pour rain, the mist during these months.

Central State Traffic Police Department appeals to all road traffic participants to observe the traffic rules.
