"Offenses revealed in the municipalities of Azerbaijan are permitted while using property and the property of municipalities, chief of the Center at Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice for work with municipalities, Mehdi Salimzade, told media on Tuesday.
According to Salimzade, offenses committed while using budget by municipalities were revealed last year in some municipalities.
"There are facts that a number of chairmen and other responsible officials of municipalities, have made illegal decisions not respecting the principle of collegiality", the head of the center said.
According to him, offenses were revealed in rural, settlement and urban municipalities in 2009. "We applied to the republican prosecutor's office due to revealed facts. Some of them have already got the legal assessment", Salimzade said.
According to him, no serious offenses were revealed due to the subsidies allocated to municipalities last year. "Just using the property and assets, the municipalities did not take into account the market prices while estimating. This amount is close to 16 million manat," the head of the center said.
About 1,718 municipalities operate in Azerbaijan.
