During TV debates at the authoritative Turkish TV channel STAR, Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva expressed Azerbaijani position concerning signing of Turkey-Armenia protocols.
About 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory was occupied by Armenia more than 15 years, 1 million of Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced people can not return to their lands and homes within many years, MP said.
Turkey closed the border with Armenia after Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan was occupied. During many years official Ankara stated that it will not establish relations with Armenia till Azerbaijani lands are released, Pashayeva said.
MP reminded about Turkish officials' statements made in Baku that the border between Turkey and Armenia will not be opened and ties between two countries will not be established till Armenia releases Azerbaijani occupied territories. Azerbaijani people hope for invariability of Turkish position, she said.
"We hope that the Turkish Grand National Assembly (Parliament) will not ratify these protocols and the documents will not come into force till Armenia releases Azerbaijani occupied territories," Pashayeva said.
She has also answered the questions concerning the meeting between Azerbaijani and Armenia Presidents held in Chisinau and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's statements about vainness of these talks. Pashayeva said that Armenian position caused vainness of the meeting.
Presently, Armenia refuses from occupying Azerbaijani lands. Several forces abroad willing to reconcile Turkey and Armenia said that establishment of diplomatic relations between them and opening of the border will positively affect the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. But it is mistaken opinion, Pashayeva said.
If diplomatic relations are established and the border between these countries is opened before Azerbaijani lands are released, Armenian President will hold tougher position in release of Azerbaijani territories. MP reminded Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's statements that the situation we faced during the talks gives enough grounds to speak about it.
Pashayeva said that three countries, including the USA, Russia and France participated in the signing ceremony of Turkey-Armenia protocols do their best to achieve rapprochement of these countries. They are co-chairmen of OSCE Minsk Group to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Unfortunately, they do not take serious actions to oblige Armenia to release Azerbaijani occupied territories.
MP pointing to over-scrupulousness of this topic for Azerbaijan said that opening of Turkey-Armenia border will contradict Azerbaijani national interests till the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is solved. Azerbaijani people hope that the Turkish Parliament will not ratify the protocols Ankara-Yerevan till Armenia releases occupied territories, Pashayeva said.
