Turkish FM hopes that soon Turkish flag will wave in Martyr's Alley

The question of removing the Turkish flag from the Martyr's Alley was discussed today at a meeting between foreign ministers of Turkey Ahmed Davudoglu and Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov.

"We discussed it today and we hope that soon the Turkish flag will wave in the Martyr's Alley," Davudoglu told journalists in Baku on Oct. 22.

According to Elmar Mammadyarov, an investigation will be held to identify those insulting the flag of Azerbaijan during a football match in Bursa between Turkey and Armenia. According to Davudoglu, this step was a provocation in order to make differences between the two peoples.

"Azerbaijan and Turkish flags are the same for us, we protect Azerbaijani flag in Turkey, as you protect our martyrs here," said Davudoglu.

During the Turkey-Armenia football match in Bursa, which took place on Oct. 14, the Azerbaijani flag was taken away from fans. Due to the incident on Oct. 15, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry submitted a protest to the Turkish Embassy. The Turkish flags were removed from the Martyr's Alley under the Azerbaijani legislation.

The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkey today visited the Alley of Honorary Burial and Martyr's Alley.
