Georgia, Tbilisi, October 30 / Trend News N. Kirtskhalia /

Today, the Tbilisi City Court sentenced son of first Georgian president Zviad Gamsakhurdia Tsotne for two months of imprisonment as a preliminary measure.

The incident occurred on Oct. 27 near Kolkhian tower. Gamsakhurdia was accused of premeditated attempt to kill David Bajelidze. At present, he is in the Republican Hospital.

Gamsakhurdia was charged with premeditated murder and illegal purchase, possession and carrying of weapons.

The prosecution called on to imprison Gamsakhurdia, although his lawyer Keti Bekauri said that the weapons were not revealed in the place of accident. A shell and a bullet were found. The examination failed to to determine whether the shots were made from a gun.

"There is no evidence of suffered David Bajelidze. There is only indirect evidence of the witness. A neighbor, who had robbed Kolkhian tower for many years, gives testimony against Gamsakhurdia. Moreover, gunpowder on the hand of Gamsakhurdia can not be sufficient evidence ", Bekauri said.

However, the court did not take into account the arguments of the lawyer and decided to meet the prosecution's proposal. The lawyer intends to challenge the decision of the City Court in the appellate court.

Gamsakhurdia is in the status of the accused. He is in isolator No 2. He launched a hunger strike to be released. Tsotne Gamsakhurdia was serving a conditional sentence when he commited this crime.

He is accused of plotting to overthrow state power upon the 315-th article of the Criminal Code. These are video recordings, spread on November 7, 2007 during opposition rallies, demonstrating Tsotne Gamsakhurdia's connection with the special services of Russia.
