About 20 pupils from Tbilisi Public School No. 62 were poisoned of unknown gas and taken to the hospital. According to teachers, a strong smell suddenly spread in the building today at 10:00 a.m.
The school administration organized an emergency evacuation of the children. Twenty children fell ill and were taken to the Republican Hospital and Iashvili Children's Hospital.
Emergency medical personnel and police are at the scene. The origin and type of gas that led to the poisoning has not been defined.
The incident may be the result of hazing, teachers said. They suggest that one pupil may have let out gas to disrupt school. Police are considering other versions.
