Georgia and EU signed a "Partnership for mobility" declaration.
The document was signed between Georgian Vice Prime-Minister Giorgi Baramidze and minister of migration of Sweden, the EU chairman country.
"Partnership for mobility" is an important step towards the free, legal movement of Georgian citizens to EU countries, including the legal jobs, Baramidze said to journalists. This initiative will let Georgian citizens to work legally in EU countries. It will also allow them to get legal education, he added.
The initiative will also help to take the illegal migration under control and will help to keep ties with Georgian Diaspora abroad. The "Partnership for mobility" is the first precedent when the European Union expresses its readiness to assist in the legal employment of Georgian citizens in the EU.
Successful cooperation within the framework of the initiative will create prerequisites for the transition to a visa-free regime. The declaration is the first and an important step for the utilization of these mechanisms.
