![]() Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Jan. 21 / Trend News D. Azizov / The first meeting of the newly elected Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan's parliament (lower house of parliament) will be held on January 22, the press service of the Central Election Commission said.
It was reported that as a result of the elections held on December 27, 2009 and re-voting held on Jan. 10, 2010 about 150 MPs were elected from four political parties and Uzbek Ecological Movement in 39 constituencies. About 53 MPs from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - the Liberal-Democratic party, 32 MPs - from the People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, 31 MPs - from Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish, 19 MPs - from Social-Democratic Party Adolat were elected as a result of the elections.
The bicameral parliament in Uzbekistan was formed in 2005. Over 100 MPs work in the upper house - the Senate but 120 MPs work in the Legislative Chamber. MPs are elected for five years. Read more news in category Foreign policy:
