Turkmenistan has bought the latest armored vehicles, aircraft and helicopters in order to strengthen the military power and defense of its national army, the Turkmen President said Jan. 27.

"We will systematically strengthen the logistics base of the Turkmen armed forces with modern, more advanced military equipment, weapons, and we will train our military personnel and experts to be able to operate this equipment," Berdimuhamedov said

Turkmenistan supports mutually beneficial cooperation with many foreign countries, preserving its status of a neutral government.

"The adoption of the Turkmen military doctrine is an important step in the government's foreign policy based on peaceful principles," the president added.

"You should always remember and be proud of the fact that you are doing a sacred military duty, which is a great responsibility! This feeling should make you proud with your country, every inch of which is sacred. There is no higher honors than to penetrate with love the motherland, cherish it as the apple of your eye to the end of days and selflessly serve the country," Berdimuhamedov said in his welcoming speech to commanders, officers, soldiers and cadets.
