Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, May 17 / Trend H. Hasanov /

A special training for staff of the Central Election Commission and district election commissions was organized within the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkmenistan, a statement said.

The workshop includes a method of BRIDGE (Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections) and is based on the experience of Australia, South Africa, Thailand, Poland and other countries.

The information cites the opinion of UNDP Deputy Permanent Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Sahakyan that support in the elections is a key focus of UNDP's cooperation with the Turkmen government. It is in harmony with the efforts of Turkmenistan to strengthen the capacity of members of electoral commissions. It is a part of the ongoing legal reforms in Turkmenistan.

An interactive method of learning allows participants to quickly assimilate the learning material on the basic principles of elections and develop teaching methods. Education combines presentations and training sessions, games and discussions.

UN implements the project "Strengthening of the electoral system and processes in Turkmenistan" to enhance skills and knowledge of members of Turkmen electoral commissions in the sphere of electoral processes.
