The Special Envoys have jointly developed an urgent action plan, containing specific steps and areas in which the OSCE, UN and EU can support the authorities and the people of the Kyrgyz Republic in restoring public order, containing the potential spread of conflict and achieving national reconciliation, as well as economic and social rehabilitation, the OSCE's Bishkek office said.
The Special Envoys of the UN, the EU and the OSCE in the Kyrgyz Republic express their support to the people of Kyrgyzstan at this difficult time, and stress that the preservation of national unity and the restoration of national security are of utmost importance for the stabilisation of the situation in the country.
"We are deeply convinced that the tradition of tolerance of the people of the Kyrgyz Republic will return the country to a peaceful development," a message said.
At the same time the Special Envoys emphasize the importance and urgency of establishing a humanitarian corridor in the southern regions of Osh and Jalal-Abad provinces, as well as of ensuring the equitable distribution of humanitarian aid among those in need.
The clashes between Kyrgyz and Uzbeks began on the night of June 11 in the city of Osh - the second most populous regional capital of Kyrgyzstan. The riots were the largest ones for the last 20 years.
Riots in Kyrgyzstan, which led to the overthrow of Bakiyev's government, took place in April this year.
Riots began in neighboring Jalal-Abad region. Rioters burned cars, looted shops, markets, as well as residential homes. Looters rampaged through the streets.
According to latest official figures, about 187 people died, about 2,000 injured. As a result of clashes in the south, there was a large number of refugees and internally displaced persons.
The Special Envoys support the efforts of the authorities and the people of the Kyrgyz Republic aimed at stabilising the situation and returning to the path of peace and democracy.
The Special Envoys call upon all parties concerned for restraint, reconciliation and consensus.
