Several officials of the Kyahrizyak investigation isolator were dismissed and punished, the Iranian police reported. The reason for their dismissal was self-will in their work, Mehr news agency reported.
After the order by the Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei to close the Kyahrizyak detention center in order to investigate the violence in the center, an investigation group was established with the participation of the Supreme Council for National Security.
A special investigation team set up by order of Iran's police commander, General Ahmadi Mugaddami, deals with this issue.
The reason for punishing officials of the prison was too high reception of convicts in the prison, non-notification of higher instances about the real situation in the prison, as well as non-implementation of orders relating to detention and safety of prisoners.
On July 28, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei decided to close the Kyahrizyak prison. Part of the participants of protest against the results of presidential elections is detained in this prison, BBC reported on the same day. Khamenei's decision was made after death of the son of assistant of presidential candidate Mohsun Rezaee Mohsun Ruhulamin and others in the prison under unclear circumstances. In his turn, on July 30 Ahmadinejad sent a letter to the Ministry of Justice, with a requested to discharge 140 prisoners.
