Pakistani security forces arrest 44 suspects in NW operation

Pakistani security forces arrested 44 suspects in the past 24 hours as search and clearance operations are continuing in the country's northwestern districts of Swat and Malakand, according to a military press release Sunday, Xinhua reported.
The security forces also recovered cache of arms and improvised explosive device (IED)-making accessories, it said.
A terrorist voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Chakdarra Fort, according to the military.
On relief activities, it said that 277,056 cash cards have been distributed amongst the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Malakand.
Pakistani security forces launched the military operation against Taliban militants late April after militants early that month entered the Buner district from the neighboring Swat district and refused to vacate the area despite their pledge to do so.
