The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has prepared an action plan under the Caspian Week to be held on Sept. 23-30.
Under the plan, there will be held community work day and roundtables with the participation of residents, local executive bodies and educational institutions at the 995-km coastal strip of the Azerbaijani territory of the Caspian Sea, in the areas Nabran, Sumgayit, Baku, Neftchala and Lankaran, the ministry told Trend .
The area of the Caspian Sea is approximately 380,000 square kilometers. The coastline of the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan is 955.08 km, Russia - 695 km, and Kazakhstan - 2,320 km, Turkmenistan - 1200 km and Iran - about 900 km. A lot of companies in the world are interested in the oil and gas fields of the Caspian Sea.
Under the UN resolution, the International Day of Sea has been celebrated worldwide at the last week of September since 1978.
