The Azerbaijani Court passed a sentence on the gang members accused of drug trafficking.
The Serious Crimes Court sentenced Elshan Ganjaliyev and Ramil Fatiyev to 9 years imprisonment, and Elshan Mammadov - 8 years, the court told Trend .
On Feb. 28, the State Border Service arrested Ganjaliyev when trying to import to Azerbaijan 14.6387 ounces of heroin, 1,000 grams raw opium and 935.55 grams of hashish purchased in Iran. The other gang members met Ganjaliyev at the border.
They are convicted in accordance with Articles 318.1 (violation of the state borders), 318.2 (criminal acts, specified by Article 318.2 of the present Code, committed more than once or within group on preliminary collusion or organized group, or using violence or via threat is punished by the imprisonment for the term of up to 5 years), 206.2 (smuggling) and 234.4.1 and 234.2.3 (illegal manufacturing, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics, psychotropic substances by a group of persons by prior agreement or an organized group ) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
