Azerbaijan, Baku, October 2 / Trend A. Huseynbala /
"Certain consultations should be held with corresponding organizations to solve this issue," chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov told Trend on October 2.
Over 3,300 media outlets were registered in Azerbaijan, 600 of them operate now. Roughly 400 newspapers and magazines are published. Over 20 TV channels operate. There are 50 E-media outlets, 20 information agencies, rest - Internet resources in Azerbaijan.
Amashov said that several problems hamper solving this issue.
"The major problem is lack of precise information about number of journalists in Azerbaijan," chairman of the council said.
Major reason is lack of overwhelming majority of editorial offices operating in Azerbaijan, as well as treaties with employees.
"Though we raised an issue on agreements, unfortunately, treaties between leadership and journalists were not concluded on certain objective and subjective reasons. From other side, requirements of the labor code were not observed in editorial offices in which treaties have been concluded," Amashev said.
Amashev said that the issue on journalists' benefits in public conveyances and other spheres will be raised again. "Journalists are always in movement due to their work. It is necessary to give them certain benefits given small wage of journalists. Thus, we will give united cards again after studying the issue. Consultations will be launched on benefits with the corresponding organizations after a number of journalists who need these cards is specified.
