A resolution has been passed on criminals smuggling narcotics from Iran to Azerbaijan.
The Serious Crimes Court sentenced Shakir Veliyev to 14-year and Zeyna Gambarov to 10-year imprisonment on Oct. 7.
The defendants were arrested by the State Border Service in the Jalilabad region on July 3 this year, when smuggling four kilograms of narcotic substances from Iran to Azerbaijan.
They were convicted under the Articles 206.2 (smuggling), 234.4.1, 234.4.3 (manufacture, acquisition, storing, transfer, transport or sale of precursors for the illicit manufacture and processing of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances) and 318 (illegal crossing the state border of Azerbaijan Republic) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
