An Azerbaijani court has issued a verdict on 13 Azerbaijani citizens who participated in hostilities against the U.S. troops and allied forces in composition of the illegal armed groups in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
On Oct. 12, the Serious Crime Court finished a trial on this criminal case.
Shakir Khanbutov, Araz Kangarli, Telman Isayev, Tural Sultanov, Jahangir Bagirov, Eyyub Zeynalov, Seymur Ahadov, Emil Mirzoev, Jeyhun Sadigov, Shahin Mukhtarov, Kabir Valibayov, Rovshan Pashayev, Vugar Vakilov were accused under the Articles 279.1 (illagelly forming armed groups), 318.1, 318.2 (illegal crossing state borders of Azerbaijan), and 228.1 (illegal purchase, possession, carrying firearms).
The court sentenced Khanbutov to one and a half-ye imprisonment, Kangarli and Isayev - to two and a half-year, Sultanov - to two-year imprisonment.
Jahangir Bagirov, Eyyub Zeynalov, Seymur Ahad, Emil Mirzoev, Jeyhun Sadigov, Shahin Mukhtarov, Kabir Valibayov, Rovshan Pashayev, Vugar Vakilov were sentenced to six-year imprisonment. The term of detention of all these persons, except Vakilov, was recorded as a sentence and they were released from the courtroom.
Vakilov's penalty term expires on Oct. 29.
