Confessions should have unified position to hold inter-religious dialogue: head of Iran's Inter-religious rapprochement committee

Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 7 / Trend , T.Jafarov/

An Inter-religious dialogue is necessary, said the head of the Inter-religious Rapprochement Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI).

"Confessions should have a unified position and only after it, it will be possible to launch an inter-religious dialogue. I think that an inter-confessional dialogue should take place before the inter-religious dialogue," said Sheikh Mohammad Ali Taskhiri.

The Quran has sent down the most beautiful and good theory for dialogues to people, it indicates the way of persuasive talks, Taskhiri told Trend in an interview on Nov. 6. Taskhiri is on visit to Baku to attend Caucasus Muslims Spiritual Leader Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade's birthday anniversary.

"The Islamic faith supports the dialogue and wants negotiations to be logical. Faiths must know one another better and study similarities and close positions," he said.

Taskhiri said there are similar positions among confessions and religions. "There are similar and close positions among all religions. First, the similarity of positions should be studied, and cooperation in this regard should be launched," he said.

He said there are political, historical and religious factors in the emergence of Islamophobia in Western countries. In the fight against Islamophobia, Taskhiri also noted an important role of Muslims living in Western countries. "Every Muslim living in these countries should eliminate these fears. They must demonstrate to the citizens of Western countries that Islam carries love, it is a peaceful religion that has no relation to terrorism and violence," said Taskhiri.
