European Court may change court decision on Azerbaijani bloggers: Presidential Administration

Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 16 / Trend M.Aliyev /

"As an executive body, we have no right to intervene in the Azerbaijani court's decision on the Azerbaijani young men accused of hooliganism, Adnan Hajizadeh and Emin Milli," Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department head Ali Hasanov told journalists.

According to the official, Azerbaijan is entering the European legal system and the decisions of its courts may soon be changed by the European Court of Human Rights. Hasanov connects recent discussions about the issue with the fact that Hajizadeh and Milli worked closely with international organizations. However, all are equal before the law, he added.

The Baku Sabayel District Court sentenced Emin Milli to two years and six months in prison and Adnan Hajizadeh to two years in prison Nov.11.

According to official data, Milli, Abdullayev and five other people got drunk at a Lebanese restaurant at 6:00 p.m. July 9 and clashed with Vusal Mammadov and Babak Huseynov.

Milli and Hajizade were accused of Article 221.2.1 (Hooliganism) and Article 127 (Intentional Infliction of Minor Severe Bodily Harm) of the Criminal Code.
