The U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Azerbaijan Reproductive Health & Family Planning (RH/FP) Project -- in collaboration with the Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) and Post Graduate Training Institute (PGTI) -- hosted a meeting on "strengthening reproductive health and family planning teaching in pre- and in-service medical education" December 8, the U.S. Embassy said.
"Around the world, research has shown that improving standards of care attracts more patients, reduces the per capita cost of services, and results in improved health outcomes for the population," said USAID Country Coordinator Scott Taylor.
More than 60 representatives from institutions working in the field of reproductive health and family planning attended the meeting. Among health care leaders were: Mr. Ahliman Amiraslanov, Rector of AMU; Mr. Sanan Kerimov, Rector of PGTI; Mr. Soltan Aliev, Chief Department of Organization of Medical Care Ministry of Health; Mrs. Faiza Aliyeva, Director National Reproductive Health Office (NRHO); and Mr. Jeyhun Mammadov, Director of the Ministry of Health's Public Health & Reform Center.
