Citizens of Uzbekistan and Pakistan accused of drug smuggling judged in Azerbaijan

A trial began in Azerbaijan over citizens of Uzbekistan and Pakistan, accused of selling drugs.

At the Court on Heinous Crimes, the prosecutor asked the court to appoint a penalty of 13 years imprisonment for each of the defendants - a citizen of Pakistan Hamidullah Bahbadshah, citizens of Uzbekistan Manzur Sayfilloyev and Mayub Khamaraey. The court will announce the sentence on Dec. 17.

The persons were arrested on June 19 by the employees of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan. Two kilograms of heroin were discovered and withdrawn from them.

The persons are accused under articles 206.3.2 (contraband by a group of persons) and 234.4.1, 234.4.3 (manufacture, acquisition, stockpiling, transfer, transport or sale of drugs for the illegal manufacture and processing of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances by a group of persons or an organized group in large volume) of the Criminal Code.
