Imprisoned editor-in-chief to be treated in Azerbaijan: medical administration head

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 15 / Trend K. Zarbaliyeva /

Imprisoned editor-in-chief will be treated in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Justice medical administration head Rafael Mehdiyev told Trend today.

"Ganimat Zahid has no problems with health. He wants his teeth to be treated. His treatment will be ensured," the department head said.

Mehdiyev sees no necessity to place Zahid in a hospital to treat his teeth.

"We wanted to treat him in a prison. But Zahid wants to be treated in a hospital explaining his will by the lack of conditions in prison. There is a specialist and conditions in prison. We can call for another specialist," Mehdiyev said.

An official representative of the department said that editor-in-chief needs in prosthesis of teeth. "We will treat him in any case," the department head said.

Zahid was arrested in Nov. 2007. He was condemned for four years on the accusation of hooliganism in March 2008.

Editor-in-chief said that he was arrested due to his professional activity.
