Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 24 / Trend T.Jafarov /

Azerbaijan will consider the documents of all religious communities that applied in connection with the re-registration, State Committee for Working with Religious Associations Chairman Hidayat Orujov said.

"The committee did not return back any of the documents received from the religious communities in connection with the re-registration," he said. "But, some of them have several shortcuts and we informed the communities to complete the documents."

About 120 communities have already passed re-registration.

According to the additions, Article 18 of the Azerbaijani Constitution bans the spread and propaganda of religions humiliating human dignity or contradicting principles of humanity. All religious communities can act only after they have been registered with the relevant bodies of the executive power and included in the state register of religious organizations.

Roughly 102 religious communities, including 101 Islamic and one Jewish religious community, were registered in Azerbaijan in 2008. The number of religious organizations has reached 534 in Azerbaijan.

According to him, currently the committee considers documents from 300 religious communities and documents of about 100 communities are under consideration in the Caucasus Muslims Organization (CMO).

Regarding the registration of the Ilahiyat mosque, he said the committee will consider the issue if receives appeal.
