Sentence made to Azerbaijani citizens accused of kidnapping German businessman

Sentence was made to Azerbaijani citizens accused of kidnapping a businessman from Germany.

On Dec. 26, the Court on Heinous Crimes sentenced the resident of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR), Hasan Jabbarov, residents of Baku Sabir Sadighi and Gulu Mukhtar to four years conditional imprisonment per each.

On August 10, at the Lezzet leisure center, located in the village of Jar of Azerbaijan's Zagatala region, Dzhavatay Yaman, who resides in Germany and has the Turkish and Georgian citizenship, was taken hostage.

As a result of operational actions by the police station of Zagatala region, on August 13, were arrested suspected resident of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR), Hasan Jabbarov, residents of Baku Sabir Sadighi and Gulu Mukhtar. Arms and handcuffs were withdrawn from these people.

During the investigation it was determined that these people have taken Yaman hostage ten days ago. The latter was their business partner and owed large sum to accused. Due to Yaman's failure to repay the debt, they took him hostage. It is reported that Yaman, who was firstly held hostage in Gakh district and then in Lezzet center incurred torture.
