Azerbaijan will introduce a new university finance mechanism, which will provide funds for each student, Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov told journalists today.
He said the project to development higher education in Azerbaijan is being preparing with the World Bank's support. The WB is ready to allocate a loan to implement the project.
Mardanov said the new mechanism will promote establishing a competitive environment among universities.
Funds allocated for higher education from the public budget were 121.4 million manat in 2009. The figure was 84.2 million manat in 2008.
