Trial over corruption actions of former head of municipality has completed today.
The Heinous Crimes Court has sentenced former head of municipality in Archivan village of Astara region Mirzaga Nuriyev to eight-year-imprisonment.
Nureyev was charged with illegal sale of land belonging to local residents, misappropriation of funds allocated for the restoration of internal roads of the village, and abuse of power.
Nuriyev was arrested by employees of the Department on Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office in September 2009.
He is charged with Article 179.3.2 (assignment or waste insignificant size), 308.1. (abusing of official powers), 309.1 (excess of official powers) and 313 (service forgery) of the Criminal Code.
