Prosecutor demands five years imprisonment for security guard of assassinated Lieut. General

A trial over Elshan Eyvazov who worked as security guard of the house of former air forces commander, Lieutenant General Rail Rzayev who was shot in February 2009, was held at Yasamal District Court.

While addressing the trial under Fuad Talishinski's chairmanship prosecutor demanded five years imprisonment for the accused.

Eyvazov is charged with Articles 234.1 (illegal purchase or storage without a purpose of selling of narcotics or psychotropic substances in a quantity (amount) exceeding necessary for personal consumption), 320.1 (Fake of certificate or other official document giving the rights or releasing from duties, with a view of its use or selling of such document, as well as manufacturing in same purposes or selling of counterfeit state awards of the Azerbaijan Republic, stamps, seals, forms), 178.2.4 (swindle with causing damage in the significant size) of the Criminal Code. According to the indictment, the opium was found in Eyvazov's car.

The process will continue till Feb.3.

Eyvazov has worked as security guard of Rail Rzayev's house for three years. Rail Rzayev's assassination happened while he was on duty Feb.11, 2009. Eyvazov was arrested by Yasamal District Police Department's employees Feb.17.

Azerbaijani Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Rail Rzayev was shot Feb.11 2009. Professional officers of the Republican Prosecutor General's Office, Interior Ministry and National Security Ministry formed an operation-investigation group to investigate the case.
