The Azerbaijani Health Ministry identified and registered 445 new facts of HIV infection in 2009, the Ministry reported.
Some 437 of infected are Azerbaijani citizens and 18 are foreigners.
Of infected, 362 fell on men (82.8percent) and 75 women (17.2percent).
The number of the Azerbaijani citizens whose level reached AIDS hit 99 people in this period including 42 died from the disease
According to the report, 62.2 percent of infection cases occurred due to the drugs.
Azerbaijan has registered 2,174 infected from 1992 to late 2009. Some 637 residents (29.3percent) fell to Baku and the Absheron region
