Trial starts over military man in Azerbaijan

A trial over a military man, who is accused of trying to premeditated murder, started in Azerbaijan.

Today during the trial at the Military Court on Heinous Crimes over the criminal case of serviceman of N military unit of the Defense Ministry, lieutenant Adalat Mammadov, the defendant provided testimonies, but he did not find himself guilty as charged. Mammadov said that he had no intention to shoot the victim Elvin Guliyeva. He said that Guliyev was injured because of fire, open through carelessness. The victim, in his testimony, also said that he has no claim to Guliyev.

In September 2009, Lieutenant Adalat Mammadov wounded his colleague Elvin Guliyev, opening fire from his service machine. Guliyev has been provided timely medical care, and managed to be saved.

Mammadov is charged under article 29.120.2.2 (attempted premeditated murder committed out of hooliganism) of the Criminal Code.
