A criminal group that committed an armed attack is under trial in Azerbaijan.
Accused Baku residents Ruslan Hasanov, Vahab Hasanov, Kamal Javadov, Elgun Shirinzade and Rusif Shikhiyev pleaded innocent and gave evidence in their criminal case at the Baku Heinous Crimes Court.
They are charged with Article 177.3.1 (Theft Committed by Organized Group) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
The group allegedly robbed cars in various districts of Baku in 2008-2009. The criminals threatened the car owners with guns.
The group also robbed the car of Tural Abbasov, who works for the Azizbekov District Police Department. Breaking the car window, the group stole his pistol.
The group was arrested in April 2009.
