Media reports about arrest Ali Karroubi, Mehdi Karroubi's son, during the rally on the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Tehran, counteract the reality, Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dovlatabadi was quoted as saying by agency İLNA.
"The prosecutor's office did not make any order about arrest of Ali Karrubi. If he says that he was arrested, let him then indicate the reason of arrest and his place of detention," Dovletabadi said.
Mehdi Karrubi's wife wrote an open letter to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hamnei, referring to arrest of his son at a mosque, complaining severely torture against him. "My son was threatened with sexual violence," says Fatima Karroubi in the letter. She indicated that her son was arrested by the representatives of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards.
"I heard about Ali Karroubi's arrest from the press and checked the reports. In reply to my request, the Iranian police, Sepah and the Security Ministry said no person with that name and surname has been arrested," Dovletabadi underscpored.
Granddaughter of Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini Zahra Ashrafi, Iranian opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi 's son Ali Karroubi and Iranian ex-president Mohammad Khatami's brother Muhammadrza Khatami were arrested during the rallies in Tehran to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, Parlemannews reported earlier.
The same day, all the arrested were released, Dovletabad said.
