FM: Azerbaijani crew of Premier vessel has no problem to return back

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 19 / Trend M.Aliyev/

Azerbaijani sailors from the Premier ship, located in the roads on Albanian coast, have no problem with returning to their homeland, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Elkhan Polukhov said on Feb. 19.

"Yesterday we contacted the captain and crew of the ship. There is no problem with sailors' documents and they can return at any time," he said.

Azerbaijan contacted the International Red Cross Committee in Albania, which has expressed willingness to help the crew with food. Currently, the ship owners are negotiating with the leadership of the port to obtain a permit for mooring the vessel, said Polukhov.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Turkey keeps the situation under control.

A cargo ship owned by a Turkish company "Mareks", with a 14-mmeber crew, is on the road in 40 km of the Albanian port of Durer. Eight of their 14 crew members are Azerbaijanis and others are Georgians. Albania refuses the sailors to go ashore.
