Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry and Embassy in Tehran hold under control the issue of arrested Azerbaijani scientist, take all possible measures within the diplomacy, Deputy Foreign Minister Vagif Sadikhov told Trend March 16.
We are in constant contact with Iran's relevant agencies on this issue and hope that we can achieve the desired result, he said.
At the invitation of the Iranian company "Sazan Elestronics Industry" and in the framework of a cooperation agreement with BSU, a leading engineer of physical-biological systems laboratory of the Institute for Physical Problems of BSU Rashid Aliyev worked in this company from 2006 to 2008. Company management has repeatedly offered the scientist to move to Iran for permanent residence but Aliyev did not accept this proposal and returned to homeland. After persistent requests of director Abbas Eftekhari, October 5 Aliyev went back to Iran for a short time, and October 6 he was arrested under the pretext of problems with visa.
"The arrest of Rashid Aliyev has not any relation to the contract signed between our company and BSU," Abbas Eftekhari told Trend earlier.
The rights of Azerbaijani citizens are respected and the protection of his rights is always on the focus of the state, deputy minister said.
Currently Aliyev is kept in the fifth building of the Evin prison.
Azerbaijani Justice Ministry has sent request to the Iran's appropriate structure in connection with the case of Azerbaijani specialist.
