In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Azerbaijan Society held an event dedicated to May 28 - Republic Day, the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora of Azerbaijan said.
Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, as the first parliamentary republic, was also the first democratic, legal and secular state in the East, chairman of the society Samir Imanov said addressing the event. The huge historical merits belong to the national leader Heydar Aliyev in preserving and strengthening statehood and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, who regained its independence in the last century for the second time," he said.
The first chairman of the UAE Parliament Ahmed Sabib al-Zahir, a legal consultant of administration of Sheikh of Dubai Bahlul Lvey and head pf Dubai Institute for Human Rights Abdullah Mohammed, contacted by phone with the chairman of Azerbaijan Society, and congratulated Azerbaijanis living in the UAE, and all the people of Azerbaijan on May 28 - Republic Day.
