Azerbaijan won its first silver medal at the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games today.
Freestyle wrestler Kenan Guliyev won the silver in the 54-kilogram class after losing in the finals to Japanese wrestler Yuki Takahashi.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler Ali Mahammadabirov beat Cuban Abraham de Jesus Konedo Ruanoin in the 100-kilogram-class finals to take home the gold.
Azerbaijani wrestler Nijat Rahimov took home the gold in the 295-kilogram class in the snatch event.
Azerbaijani wrestlers Murad Bazarov and Elman Mukhtarov won gold medals on the first day of the games. Patimat Bagomedova also brought home a gold.
The Summer Youth Olympic Games are held from Aug. 14 to 26.
Over 3,500 athletes are competing.
