Baku hosts UNESCO Int'l Bioethics meeting (PHOTO)

The 18th session of the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee opened in Baku on Tuesday. The three-day session is organized by the Azerbaijani National Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

The 18th session of the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee opened in Baku on Tuesday. The three-day session is organized by the Azerbaijani National Commission for UNESCO in cooperation with the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, ANAS President Mahmud Karimov said Azerbaijan pays particular attention to the training and development of bioethics.

Karimov said the bioethics department operates under ANAS, where a doctoral department and dissertations on Bioethics have become available.

Karimov said UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and Heydar Aliyev Foundation President Mehriban Aliyeva has played a great role in the development of bioethics in Azerbaijan.

He said that the session will contribute to the global development of bioethics.
