Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 8 / Trend I.Isabalayeva /

The landslide processes on the Bayil slope of Baku have ended and a new landslide threat is not recorded there, National Seismological Service Center Director Gurban Yetirmishli told Trend today. He enters a commission established in connection with the landslide on the Bayil slope occurred on Aug.18.

He said researches in this area showed soil movements have stopped here. The report will be forwarded to the Cabinet today.

Yetirmishli said seismological situation is stable here. No tremors were recorded in seismic foci in the surrounding areas after the landslide.

"The zone is quiet from the seismological point of view," he added. "Of course, tremor in such a critical situation would negatively influence the landslide."

Yetirmishli said the recent continuous rains did not affect the state of the landslide zone.

"The situation is controlled everyday. Now it is safe. The Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has put on the ground beacons. No new cracks were recorded. Following the landslide, no significant movements of the soil were recorded here," he said.

He said the landslide cracks were filled and canals to drain the rainwater were dug on the first day of the landslide. It would continue if no measures were taken.

Reports to be presented by relevant agencies will be discussed in a committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov, and then we will know what actions will be taken in the landslide zone, Yetirmishli added.

"The situation in the landslide area has become cleared following the research. The research studies seize, place, depth of the landslides and collapse. Our job is not to take any measures to prevent landslide. The designers should work on it," he said.
