Caucasus Nature Fund allocated 604 thousand euros for two national parks in Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi, April 3 /Trend N.Kirtzkhalia/

Caucasus Nature Fund allocated 604 thosand euros to Tusheti and Vashlovani national parks in eastern Georgia. Ministry of Environment of Georgia said head of department Goga Khachidze, chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas Giorgi Shovnadze and executive director of the Fund David Morison signed the corresponding grant agreement on Tuesday.

"Large funds attracted in the result of joint and coordinated work. These funds are directed to the development of the reserves and help to cover specific expenses that exist in the parks. In the result of this the number of tourists increased in the reserves." Khachidze said.

The grant will be spent on the development of Tusheti and Vashlovani national parks. Small infrastructure will be developed and different priority environmental actions will be implemented within two years.

"The purpose of the grant funding is to strengthen the administrative issues and to achieve conservation goals of bio-diversity that exists in the reserves," David Morrison said.
These projects have been carried out in the National Park Borjomi-Kharagauli and Lagodekhi reserve since 2008.

The purpose of Caucasus Nature Fund is a financial assistance of conservation and development of protected areas of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
