Some 4178 flats will be constructed for IDPs in Azerbaijan this year. Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov, stated this when he addressed an event dedicated to the 89th birth anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev on the topic 'Heydar Aliyev and modern Azerbaijan: addressing problems of refugees and IDPs - focus of the state attention'.
Hasanov said that at present the construction of housing for IDPs is underway in nine regions of the country. He assured delegates that President Ilham Aliyev's order on the matter will be fulfilled on time.
Hasanov said that if in early 2000s, 75 per cent of the IDPs belonged to the poorest people, today this figure had fallen to 18 per cent.
"Last year, on average $900 of public funds was spent for each IDP. This figure does not exist in any conflict point in the world," Hasanov said.
