Another Armenian lie was revealed. This time it was revealed historically.
The so-called Armenian historians claim that there were "ancient Armenian cities" in the occupied territories with historical monuments belonging to Azerbaijan.
In particular, while conducting excavations in the territory around the ancient monument Johurgala, Armenian archaeologists allegedly discovered the remains of the ancient city of 'Tigrankert', deputy director of the Archaeology and Ethnography Institute of the National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Najaf Museyibli told media on Friday.
"This historical monument was discovered in the Soviet period and was officially registered as a pattern of Azerbaijan's ancient history," he said. "According to history, there was no town called 'Tigrankert' in the Caucasus."
Armenians declared that after the Shahbulag complex, located on the territory of Azerbaijani Agdam region, is repaired, the 'Tigrankert' historical museum will be created there.
"The international conventions to which Armenia joined, prohibit conducting archaeological excavations in the conflict areas," he said. "However, the Armenians, ignoring these documents, continue working in search of non-existent historical evidence of their living in the occupied territories in ancient times."
He added that the Azerbaijani side has repeatedly appealed to the relevant international organisations, but to date with no results.
Museyibli also stressed that the most ancient Armenian monument in the South Caucasus is only 250 years old.
