Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 6 / Trend M. Aliyev /
Iran proposes to establish a visa zone similar to that at Schengen among the Great Silk Road countries.
"This will contribute to the development of tourism between the two countries and facilitate travel by attracting a large flow of tourists to the region," Iranian vice-president Seyed Hassan Mousavi said at the international conference 'Taste of the Silk Road: Cooking, Culture, Tourism' in Baku today. "This will also facilitate the development of relations and peace in the region."
He said that the Silk Road countries must use the potential for tourist development.
The Iranian vice president has also voiced proposals to establish the General Assembly of the Silk Road countries and to hold its congress in Iran in late 2013. Following this, 2014 would be declared as the year of the Silk Road and a Silk Road Day held within the World Tourism Organisation and also create the Silk Road Atlas.
