The chairman of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR), Leyla Aliyeva, held a meeting with members of the AYOR Astrakhan branch at school 11 named after Heydar Aliyev in Astrakhan on Wednesday, Trend special correspondent reported.
First, the AYOR chairman got acquainted with the school, which was overhauled at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and with the support of the Azerbaijani government. After the reconstruction two new buildings were built in the school, new furniture was set up, and advanced equipment was installed in classrooms.
Leyla Aliyeva inspected the classrooms to viewed the conditions created for students. It was noted that 650 students attend the school now, including 32 Azerbaijanis. The school has 20 classrooms and 42 teachers work here.
Speaking at the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva noted that the Astrakhan branch of AYOR is one of the most active regional departments. She stressed that AYOR has implemented many projects in Astrakhan, including educational ones.
"AYOR has existed for almost five years. Our objective is to unite Azerbaijani youth living in Russia. AYOR has over 60 regional offices," Leyla Aliyeva said.
The AYOR chairman said that the regional offices of AYOR mark national holidays of Azerbaijan, promote fair position of Azerbaijan in the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, and the realities of the country.
"We believe that the conflict will fairly be resolved soon, all refugees and displaced persons will return to their native lands," Leyla Aliyeva said.
She noted that at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation an international campaign IDEA was launched in Azerbaijan. Aliyeva said that over this time a lot of interesting projects have been implemented within this campaign, about 60,000 trees were planted, conferences and seminars were held.
"I invite you to actively join this movement and share your proposals," Aliyeva said.
The chairman of the regional office of AYOR in Astrakhan, Elvin Huseynov, said at the meeting that this office unites more than 350 members, who take an active part in the region's socio-political life. Following 2010-2011 results, the Astrakhan regional administration gave the highest assessment to the regional office of AYOR among city's youth organizations, Huseynov said.
Then Leyla Aliyeva answered questions from the participants and members of AYOR.
