The Prosecutor General's Office's appeal to toughen the sentence is due to the court decision regarding the Chinese citizen accused of kidnapping in Azerbaijan, the Baku Court of Appeals told Trend on Monday. The appeal was granted.
At the trial, held under the chairmanship of Judge Vagif Mursagulov, the decision of the court in regard of a national Hu Ye was modified.
The court decided to transfer Hu Ye from general regime prison to prison of medium security.
On November 13, 2009 members of the group, kidnapped Chinese citizen Liu Genyong and his brother Liu Hiaolein in Masalli and brought them to Baku.
After they were detained for two days in Baku, the members of the group released the detainees, receiving $ 22,000 from Liu Genyong's wife Huong Suzhen.
The defendants were arrested, based on the inquiry of Liu Genyong.
As a result of investigation operations conducted by the staff of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime at the Interior Ministry , the head of the group accused of kidnapping Chinese citizen Ji Ping Fong and a group member, his fellow citizen Hu Ye were arrested.
As a result of investigation operations on identification and arrest of the other members of the organized group, Wang Li Yong, Wang Yong Kong, Chang Yu Bin, Zhhen Guo Wang, Zhhen Xi Yu Hong and Huyen were arrested.
The prosecutor asked the court for 14 years of imprisonment for Ji Fong Ping, Hu Ye and Wang Lee. 13 years for Wang Kong Yongo, Yu Jang Bin, Jen Go Vann and Jen Si Hunun, 12 years for Yu Huen.
Group members were also accused of other crimes related to the kidnapping.
