The Government of Turkey called on the Parliament to toughen the laws against smoking and alcohol consumption, 'Sabah' newspaper reported on Saturday.

According to the report, a new bill on toughening penalties for drinking and smoking in public places is expected to be considered in the Parliament of Turkey.

According to the newspaper, the draft law also provides for the prohibition of advertising alcoholic beverages, and smoking will be forbidden not only indoors, but also in open public places.

The new bill also provides for a ban on smoking for public transport drivers.

Under the new bill, any discounts on alcoholic beverages will be forbidden in Turkey.

According to the newspaper, the bill provides for fines ranging from 10 to 200 thousand Turkish liras for violating the bans on smoking and drinking.

Currently, the fine for smoking in public places in Turkey is 60 liras.
