Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 June / Trend I. Isabalayeva /

Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan Bahar Muradova called on women to be active in preventing early marriages.

Speaking at the 4th Congress of Women of Azerbaijan, Muradova said that enforcing young women in their teens to leave the school and engage and using them as a mean of solving financial problems is a major crime.

"How can an uneducated woman begin a mother tomorrow, how will she bring up a child? Therefore, it is necessary not only to protest on these issues, we need to become more active to eliminate them. Unfortunately, although few such cases are reflected in the statistics, they can be found in all regions and even in Baku," Muradova said.

Noting that domestic violence is a crime too, the vice-speaker added that the problems of women like this should not be addressed in isolation from the problems of males. These problems must be solved together.

Muradova noted that there is a need for adoption of a law on 'Reproductive health' and called on the State Committee for Family, Women and Children to support this bill.

The Vice Speaker also noted that the participants of the congress support the candidacy of President Ilham Aliyev at the upcoming presidential elections.
