The first Turkish training aircraft HÜRKUŞ was successfully tested on August 29, the Anadolu agency reported on Thursday.
According to the agency, mass production of the aircraft will begin in the near future following the successful testing. Around 50 engineers and over 350 experts worked on HÜRKUŞ project.
The new aircraft was created by the Turkish Scientific and Research Centre for Aerospace Technologies.
The centre also produces parts for F-16 fighters, the A380 passenger airbus and A400M military aircraft-airbus. The centre has also begun to produce diffusers for A350 airbuses.
In recent years, the Turkish defence industry focused on processing and producing its own products. Turkey managed to reach the level of self-sufficiency in the sphere of the defence industry at 54 per cent.
