The fans that wrecked the football match between the Turkish Galatasaray and Besiktas football teams will not be allowed to attend any matches throughout the year, Sabah newspaper reported on Monday.

Some 69 fans, who interrupted the match between the football teams as a result of a brawl, were arrested on the eve of the match by Istanbul police. None of the 69 football hooligans will be able to attend football matches in Turkey.

The Turkish championship's fifth round match between the Istanbul teams of Besiktas and Galatasaray was stopped.

After the removal of Galatasaray's midfielder Felipe Melo at 91 minutes when the score was 1:2, Besiktas fans ran on to the field and started to beat the stewards and the police. Many fans who ran out on the grass were holding plastic chairs and were trying to hit anyone who got in their way.

Law enforcement officers had to use tear gas to stop football hooligans.
