As a result of monitoring carried out by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Culture and Tourism this year, the licenses of four hotels were revoked, Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev told journalists today.
The hotels are located in the Guba, Khachmaz, Mingachevir and Astara regions, he said.
According to him, the monitoring revealed that the management of several hotels has been negligent over its standards. There are problems with water at some hotels.
Garayev said that in this regard, the management of some hotels were warned and appropriate recommendations given.
Professional staff must be trained for Azerbaijani tourism, the minister said.
"The share of tourism is increasing in the development of the non-oil sector," he said. "As of six months, the Azerbaijani tourism level increased in the international arena by 9.9 per cent. Around 1.196 million tourists visited Azerbaijan."
